Preppers don’t always have a good reputation. In fact, non-preppers might even think preppers are paranoid hoarders or gun-crazy hermits.
But that’s the furthest thing from the truth. In reality, preparedness is about making sure your family is safe during emergencies. It’s also focused on self-sufficiency.
Below are common myths about prepping, debunked. (h/t to RoguePreparedness.com)
Many preparedness ideas and phrases originated in the military. For example, tactical gear is popular in the prepping community.
This could result in some people thinking that you need a military background to be considered a “real” prepper. But this isn’t true.
People from different backgrounds can start prepping. All you need is self-discipline, hard work and dedication to start your prepping journey.
Non-preppers also believe prepping requires a lot of money. But while you do need money for some preps, you can plan things based on your budget.
You don’t need to break the bank because you can also focus on learning new skills while slowly investing in important preps like a food stockpile for emergencies. When you’re ready to start building your stockpile, you can take things slow and buy one to two extra cans of food or other food supplies while you buy your regular groceries.
Hoarding isn’t the focus of prepping.
As a prepper, you learn how to get ready for common emergencies by stocking up on clean drinking water and food for your family. But you don’t have to hoard items, because doing so can mean you might waste money when cans of food go to waste or expire if you have too many supplies.
Before SHTF, you should make sure you have plenty of food, water and other supplies – but you should never hoard. Purchase supplies as needed, don’t panic buy and rotate all items regularly.
Not all preppers need or want a bunker. If a bunker is not possible with your budget or current skill levels, you can focus on other prepping projects instead.
And if you do have a bunker on your homestead, you don’t have to live in it because it’s mostly for emergencies. Preppers have bunkers as fallout shelters or as shelters from natural disasters like tornados. (Related: Debunking the TOP 5 MYTHS about emergency food storage.)
Not all preppers are excited for the end of the world. Most of them are regular people who do normal things.
But unlike non-preppers, preppers also want to prepare for the worst, just in case disaster strikes when they least expect it.
The Health Ranger Store is committed to helping you prepare for any emergency as you start your prepping journey.
That’s why we’re proud to introduce a variety of lab-verified supplies, such as Mini-Bucket Organic Almonds, Organic Maple Sugar Powder and Mega Bucket Organic Tri-color Quinoa. Crunchy organic almonds are healthy snacks that are full of “good” fats, antioxidants, vitamins and minerals.
Health Ranger Select Organic Raw, Unpasteurized, Non-Irradiated Almonds have a wholesome flavor and a wealth of nutrients that have earned these nuts their title as a superfood. Our premium almonds contain no sugar, chemical flavoring, hydrogenated oils, or added sodium, and are not treated with preservatives.
Our almonds are imported from trusted vendors in Italy and are not fumigated with PPO. They are raw, unpasteurized and non-irradiated. They are vegan, non-China, non-GMO and are certified organic and Kosher.
You can also try organic maple syrup, a natural sweetener derived from the sap of the sugar maple tree (Acer saccharum). While this sap is often boiled into a sticky, sweet, amber-colored syrup, we’ve taken this process a step further and boiled this substance until all of its water content is evaporated. This leaves behind the crystalized remains of maple syrup, which are then turned into a convenient powder form.
The Health Ranger Store recognizes the need for healthy alternatives to processed sugar, which is why we’re thrilled to introduce Health Ranger Select Organic Maple Sugar Powder. Made from 100 percent pure organic maple syrup, our organic maple sugar powder is the perfect alternative to regular sugar and artificial sweeteners.
Our Health Ranger Select Organic Maple Sugar Powder is non-GMO, non-China, certified Kosher and organic. This nutritious and delicious sweetener has also been thoroughly lab tested for glyphosate, heavy metals and microbiology.
With its impressive nutritional profile, organic quinoa is one of the most protein-rich foods known to man. Unlike other grains, quinoa contains all the essential amino acids, making it a perfect food for vegans, vegetarians and meat-eaters alike. It also naturally contains no gluten and has a low glycemic index.
